Sprays of indigo flowers and triangular bright green leaves a - stunning combination . The Guatemalan Sage, introduced to British gardens 70 years ago, is an unusual plant within this very varied family in that I find it has a spreading horizontal sprawling growth habit, although many books describe as an upright plant! I would recommend enjoying in a container as - despite it growing up a mountain 8000 ft in Central America , it needs over wintering in a frost free place. Having said that if you rarely go below -3 you might well get away with it!
The Royal Horticultural Society have granted this rarely seen plant an Award of Garden Merit - the gold medal of the plant world.
